June 5th Seniors Expo
I attended Staying Active, Staying Connected — Together!   What an amazing day at our 3rd annual Seniors Expo in celebration of Seniors Month! From engaging activities to warm conversations, the community spirit was shining bright. Huge thanks to everyone who made it special—attendees, sponsors, partners, and service providers. If you missed it this year? We’ll see you next time for year four! I took the challenge and enrolled in two sessions of the Wood Working Program offered through the Seniors Centre in Odessa. I am pleased to report no injuries resulted!

June 9th Culture Talk
I attended the Culture talk at the Bath Museum as it had great personal interest. The construction of Ernestown Station began 170 years ago and was part of the first phase of the Grand Trunk Railway construction. Steve Manders, author of the First Spike, explored how the arrival of the railway transformed Loyalist Township. The Former Grand Trunk Railway Station at Ernestown is a one-storey, stone railway station, built in 1855-56 and holds unique heritage value as one of the few remaining original Grand Trunk Railway stations. The Ernestown Station truly holds a remarkable place in Canada’s rail heritage. Not just because it was part of the Grand Trunk Railway’s ambitious push across the country, but because it stands today as a rare and tangible link to that transformative era. Its one-storey stone structure is more than just architecture—it’s a symbol of connection: of goods, people, and ideas that began flowing more freely once the rails were laid.

Neil Lumsden, the Minister of Sport announced that the Ontario government is investing over $9.1 million to protect jobs and support the renewal of the W.J. June 14th Amherst Island Agricultural Society

I attended the official opening of the new pavilion on Amherst Island which was the dream and vision of the Amherst Island Agricultural Society. The pavilion will be a focal point for community events and currently a Saturday market will run there in season.
The Township is committed to enabling incorporated non-profit, charitable, and volunteer organizations to support programs for residents in health, social, cultural, economic, equity and environmental aspects. The Loyalist Township Community Grants program supported this project through funding provided by Windlectric Inc and Kingston Solar GP. The space is available for rental through the society.

June 19th Fairfield Gutzeit House Visit

Council was given a preview of the work done in the restoration of the Fairfield Gutzeit House in advance of its reopening in early July. Needless to say the work restored the house to it early roots with exterior and interior work of the tie. Furnishing and personal effects of the family and a personal touch to the site. Make it a point to visit one of the oldest buildings in our township. The before and after pictures below give you an idea of the restoration work.
